Danuta Zielisnka (Warmia and Mazury University)

Dr. Hab. Danuta Zielisnka is the Head of the Department of Chemistry of the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry of University of Warmia y Mazury in Olsztyn (Poland). Her research line is focused on the development of new methodologies to study the antioxidant properties of bioactive phenolic compounds present in plants. Her investigation involves the combination of electrochemical  techniques such as HPLC CoulArray (for the analysis of antioxidant activity) as well as chromatographic  methodologies, including HPLC-DAD system (for the characterization of phenolic compounds). The results obtained using these methodologies and their relation with the structure of the (poly)phenols investigated gives a clear view of the capacity of these molecules to exert their beneficial effects. The contribution of Dr. Zielinska to the PolyBiota project is reflected in some of the studies published within the project (and probably in future manuscripts coming from the collaboration established).
