The outreach activities included in the proposal of the PolyBiota project entails research-related communications initiatives directed to the general public, rather than the research community. Press release is one of the most useful ways to disseminate research results and create awareness among the general public about the reseach work performed (i.e., within the PolyBiota project) and its implications for citiziens.
An important number of local newspapers have showed interest on the objectives and the results obtained during the development of the PolyBiota project (see below). Hitherto, nine newspapers have published an article giving a brief description of the project and the results as well as how these results can be relevant the general public.
Newspapers such as "La Verdad de Murcia" can reach more than 140000 readers everyday in Murcia , whereas "La Opinión de Murcia" can reach 51000 readers (according to an article published in 2020). Based on this, the article was written to ensure that the research activities can be understood by non-specialist, thereby improving the public´s understanding of science.
