Undergraduate and Graduate Students

My name is Alicia Albacete Sevilla and I am from Alhama de Murcia (Spain). I finished my bachelor degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics in 2021 (University of Murcia, Spain). My End of Degree Project focused on the study of the antioxidants and phenolic compounds of plant-derived foodstuff and their beneficial effects. In line with the topic of my project, I decided to choose CEBAS-CSIC, a prestigious center regarding the study of plant-derived food and health, for a 3-months stay. This stay at the Department of Food Science and Technology (under the supervision of Dr. Giménez-Bastida and Dr. González-Sarrías) was a productive period in which I was involved in different multidisciplinar projects. The EU-funded PolyBiota project was a unique occasion to work with human endothelial cells and acquire experience regarding cell culture management and learn a wide range of techniques.

Undergraduate and Graduate students

My name is Irene Conesa Valverde and I am from Murcia (Spain). I have been always interested in natural sciences and biology. This interest was the main reason for me to study a career related to these fields. Thus, during a period of four years (2016 - 2020) I studied biotechnology at the University of Murcia. My growing passion for research brought me to collaborate as an undergraduate student in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (Faculty of Biology, University of Murcia) for 3 years. When I finished my degree, I decided to continue my studies and started a MsC of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, which I finished in July 2021. Now, the time to start a research career has began. Thanks to the CSIC-funded JAE Intro programme I have the opportunity to take new steps in research. During a period of 5 months, I will work at CEBAS-CSIC within the MSCA PolyBiota project under the supervision of Dr. Giménez-Bastida. This stay will allow me to improve my skills in the laboratory, learn new cellular and molecular biology techniques as well as data analysis.
