PhenolAcTwin (#951994) is an EU-funded H2020 project aimed at enhancing the research and innovation capacity of TUBITAK MRC Food Institute on dietary polyphenols. At the scientific level, this project is focused on the identification of dietary polyphenols at the molecular level, bioavailability as well as study of their biological activity (i.e., in vivo-in vitro).
CEBAS-CSIC is included in the network of this project (together with other leading research centers of INRAE in France and QIB in UK) as one of the epicenters in polyphenols investigation. Hitherto, the members of the Food and Health lab have contributed with numerous activities to achieve the main objectives of the PhenolAcTwin project.
In line with the activites organized within the PhenolAcTwin project, Dr. Paul Kroon, Dr. Priscilla Day-Walsh and Dr. Jennifer Ahn-Jarvis organized a workshop entitled "In vivo and in vitro approaches for investigating the bioavailability and bioactivity of polyphenols workshop" that was hosted at the Quadram Institute Bioscience (Norwich, UK).
As a principal investigator of the PolyBiota project, Dr. Giménez-Bastida was invited to give a talk about the role of cell metabolism to understand the biological effects of phenolic metabolites.
